CAN-AM Stock/Super Stock Series doubleheader event this past weekend

Cayuga,On (Aug 17 2010)  The CAN-AM Stock/Super Stock Series hosted a doubleheader event this past weekend at Cayuga Dragway as part of the Canadian Street Car Nationals.

The event marked the halfway point in the 2010 points chase.　

Saturday August 14th saw 39 cars turnout to compete in the extremely humid conditions under sunny skies.　

After 6 rounds of racing, Al Lozon's beautiful and newly acquired 2002 GT/DA Camaro prevailed over Glen Baker's great .009 light in the final, after he broke out by .002 seconds. 　

Sunday's weather forecast wasn’t very appealing as racing came to a close on Saturday evening, however after a brief rain shower first thing in the morning sent the drivers and cars scattering from the staging lanes after they had just got settled in for their first time trial, the weather cleared up and the sun eventually came out to the pleasure of the 32 teams that stayed to race.

Again, after 5 rounds of close racing, Rob Becker prevailed with a closer to the dial 10.04 on a 10.03, over Bob Park’s slightly better light.　

Becker was also the recipient of an embroidered leather jacket from Dan Velenosi and the Queenston Group after accumulating the most two-day member points.　

CAN-AM series competitors were also invited to participate in a competition for a MATCO toolbox. In the end it was Al Lozon scoring again when he ran a great 10.091 on a 10.09 dial. 　

The management of the CAN-AM series would like to thank Mike Kohn for the, as usual, excellent track prep that continued to hook　through the brutal summer heat. They would also especially like to thank Joe DaSilva and his staff for his support of the series.　

Preparation is already underway for the next CAN-AM Stock/Super Stock event which will take place over the Labour Day weekend, once again at Cayuga Dragway, as part of the Jet Car Nationals.
